Barcelona agreed a two-year contract with the Argentine Gerardo Martino. The 50-year-old replaces Tito Vilanova who resigned from Barcelona as manager to continue his treatment.
Martino was recently in charge Newell's Old Boys and led them to the Argentine Clausura title last season.
Managing Barcelona will be Martino's first job outside of South America since 1991. Most interestingly Martino becomes the fourth Argentine to manage Barcelona after Cesar Luis, Helenio Herrera and Roque Olsen.
