David Moyes claims first trophy at Manchester United

Manchester United beat Wigan in the FA Community Shield at Wembley

Robin Van Persie opened his account in the sixth minute and gave Manchester United the lead they were looking for.

Championship side Wigan showed great style of play sharing possession equally with Manchester United while controlling the ball in the first half with ease.
Wigan who had a chance to equalize through a set piece by Leon Barnett to head at goal but the hope was lost by De Gea great save and then Dutchman striked again in the 59th minute and sealed the victory for Manchester United.
The trophy was first to David Moyes cabinet since guiding Preston North End to the Division Two title in 2000.


Manchester United manager David Moyes:
"I class that as another piece of silverware for Sir Alex. It was his team that won the league by 13-15 points so it's his team. The ones going forward will be down to me.
"Wilfried Zaha has done well in pre-season and it was right for him to feature today. He picked up an injury. We are looking forward to using him as the season goes on."
